Editing Blog

So I wasn’t there last class to do the editing part of our project. I was actually on a Historically Black College University (HBCU) tour with my school district. Anyways, I missed the opportunity to start the editing. However, my partner informed me that the computers didn’t work anyways. He told me that Pinnacle Studios were down. I didn’t know how to take the information because I was pretty happy that I didn’t miss much of class and that I could help my partner edit. Though, at the same time  it seem like it would push the class back. Pushing the class back in my head sometimes mean closer due dates. Therefore, I am writing this blog based on the fact that we couldn’t do anything.
However, I am useful today because my account and desktop is where all our footage is located. My partner informed me that in order to fix the computers, the school was going to wipe the desktops clean. Meaning we would lose our footage is we don’t save it somewhere else. So, what i did today was dump all the footage that I have on my desktop and put it into my google drive. This way no matter what laptop we are on, we can access the footage from my email. After that, I made sure they were all saved in there because we don’t have another day where we can blog so we have to go with what we got.
Our filming didn’t go quite as planned. We were still missing parts that we wanted to include in the commercial. However, while I was away my partner filled in those blanks with footage of his own to make up for it. He did two scenes. One with him taking his jacket off and throwing it, and another with him running. This was a significant game changer. I say this because if we didn’t have this added, there was a possibility that our commercial would’ve been too short. He called himself trying to brag forgetting that I’m the one who writes our blogs. I say that we are both locked in 50/50.
I’m pretty sure that if we were allowed to edit, we would’ve tried to take care of cropping the video length and having smooth transitions. We try to prioritize our task. We wouldn’t want to work on sound and music when our video or commercial is not out together yet. All our transitions are action shots which means that each scene leads into another. I believe that sense we are doing Nike and it’s sports related, it was the most appropriate. I also feel like it is best if we want to engage our audience into really paying attention.
